Resilient Networks, Inc. ("Company," "We," or "Us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information in connection with the Constellation at Axis Mundi mobile application (the "App"), a Connection Medicine project available on iOS and Android.
Our core privacy commitment: Constellation was built as a gift for the Burning Man community, and sovereign data is part of that gift. We do not collect, store, or process personally identifiable information such as your full name, email address, phone number, postal address, date of birth, government-issued ID, photos, or biometric data. There is no account to create. Your identity, friend list, and message history live on your device — not on our servers.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Location Data
Your precise location (GPS) is used to show your position on the offline venue map and to share it with friends you have explicitly added and approved. Location sharing is opt-in per friend — new friends default to location sharing OFF — and requires a manual check-in each session; there is no automatic background check-in. Your location is shared only directly, peer-to-peer, with mutual contacts over an encrypted Bluetooth/UWB mesh. It is never broadcast to all nearby users and never sent to our servers.
1.2 Device and Sensor Data
The App accesses your device's radios and sensors to enable peer-to-peer mesh connectivity and directional finding. We do not upload raw sensor data to any server.
- Radios: Bluetooth (peer-to-peer mesh discovery and messaging), Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and Wi-Fi (local network discovery when no cellular service is available).
- Motion sensors: Accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass data — processed entirely on-device to draw the directional arrow pointing to a friend.
- Camera: Used only to scan a friend's or event's QR code, and optionally to photograph a contact or saved location if you choose to.
1.3 User-Provided Information
We do not require or collect your real name, email, or phone number.
- Display name and emoji: A self-chosen name and emoji you enter during onboarding to identify yourself to friends. Stored on your device only and shared peer-to-peer with friends you connect with. We never receive it.
- Contact photos and saved-location photos (optional): If you choose to add a photo to a contact or a pin, it is stored on your device only.
1.4 Data We Explicitly Do Not Collect
The following are never requested, stored, or logged by us:
- Full name, email address, phone number, postal address
- Date of birth, age, gender
- Government-issued IDs
- Biometric identifiers
- Payment or financial data
- Your location, messages, or friend list on any server
2. Peer-to-Peer Mesh Messaging
Constellation routes messages directly between nearby devices using Bluetooth, without involving any server.
2.1 Encrypted Device-to-Device Relay
When devices are within Bluetooth range, your device may sense encrypted signals from other Constellation users nearby and relay encrypted message packets on their behalf so messages can reach people out of direct range. All mesh-relayed data is end-to-end encrypted. Your device acts only as a "blind relay" — it cannot read the content of messages passing through it, and no persistent copy is kept.
2.2 Precise Ranging
Constellation uses Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and Bluetooth to measure distance and direction to friends who have explicitly authorized you to see their location. This is processed entirely on your device to generate the directional arrow. No ranging data is sent anywhere.
2.3 Friend Connections
Friends are added only through mutual, two-way consent — a QR code scan or Bluetooth exchange between both devices. There is no discoverable profile directory and no stranger interaction. You can block or remove any friend at any time.
3. Optional Network Requests
The App is designed to work fully offline. The only network request the App makes is an optional, occasional HTTPS fetch to check for an updated event cartridge (the bundled map, guides, and venue content for the event you're attending). This request does not transmit your identity, location, friends, or messages — it simply retrieves public content. If you never have connectivity, the App continues to work with the map and content already on your device.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information described above only to:
- Show your position on the offline venue map.
- Relay your encrypted location and messages to friends you have explicitly authorized, peer-to-peer over the mesh.
- Generate directional guidance (compass arrow) to a friend, on-device.
- Check for updated event content when you have connectivity.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your data. We do not share your location, messages, or identity with anyone — because we never receive them. The only parties involved are:
- Your mutual friends within the App, and only the specific information you have chosen to share with each one.
- Apple, in its role hosting the App Store and any optional push notification delivery infrastructure, subject to Apple's own privacy policy.
We may disclose information if required by law or in response to a valid request from a public authority. Because we do not hold your location, messages, or identity, there is generally nothing on our servers to disclose.
6. Data Retention
There is no server-side account or profile to retain. Your display name, friend list, message history, and location data live on your device and are retained until you delete them (e.g., by removing a friend, clearing app data, or uninstalling the App). Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Location permission: You can disable location services at any time via your device Settings. This will limit map and friend-finding features.
- Bluetooth/UWB permission: You can disable these at any time; this will disable mesh messaging and friend-finding.
- Per-friend control: You can stop sharing your location with, mute, or block any friend at any time from within the App.
- Delete everything: Uninstalling the App deletes all data associated with your identity, since nothing is stored elsewhere.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
9. Security
Peer-to-peer messages and location shared over the mesh are end-to-end encrypted. The optional cartridge-content fetch uses standard HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but because the App does not hold your personal data on any server, there is little for a server-side breach to expose.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
